With a name like the Rose Garden District, you know there’s going to be some history. You can find this beautiful neighborhood near Santa Clara City, southwest of Central San Jose. Many of the homes date back to the mid-1800s, giving a timeless charm to the Rose Garden District.

This district takes its name from the 5.5-acre Municipal Rose Garden that draws visitors from all over Santa Clara County. The garden claims to have over 180 different rose varieties and we’ll have to take their word for it. The gardens are a great place to spend an afternoon, especially in the hour before sundown.

We’ve got to mention the Municipal Rose Garden one more time, because it’s essentially the only park space inside the district. That’s not a negative aspect; just a reality, considering how small and exclusive the Rose Garden District is.

The Guadalupe River Park is just a few minutes drive from the Rose Garden District. You’ll find short walking trails, a playground, and a community garden, though it won’t compare to the roses in your neighborhood.

Happy Hollow Park and Zoo is a ten-minute drive from the Rose Garden District, as is an ice skating rink, and the Japanese Friendship Garden.

Living in Rose Garden District has advantages, especially when it comes to finding great places to eat.

Downtown San Jose is just a few minutes away, and there, you’ve got endless restaurants to choose from. If you want something with a scenic view, we recommend one of the many wineries that dot the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum

It might surprise some people to know that one of the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities and relics is housed in The Rose Garden District. 

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum (REM) houses over 2000 exhibits and apparently gets over 100,000 visitors per year. Inside the Egyptian-style building, you’ll find statues, mummies, sarcophagus’, and even a replica tomb that guests can enter.

Healthcare Options for Rose Garden District Locals

Rose Garden District doesn’t have a hospital of it’s own, because it would never fit within such a small neighborhood. Thankfully, theres one just outside of the district.

O’Connor Hospital is walking distance from the Rose Garden District. There are 358 acute care beds, over 600 attending physicians, and other specialized services. The hospital is the closest medical care facility to the Rose Garden District. Since it has urgent care and is only 3-minutes away, O’Conner Hospital is perfect for Rose Garden residents.
